Video of how I paint an abstract palette knife painting - How to guide and tips
I've had lots of questions asking me how I do what I do. I hope this video answers some of those questions. If you have more please send me an email and I'll do my best to answer them in future videos.
Thank you for posting this Trisha. I love seeing artists use different materials (caulk) in their work - fun! I have a question. Why do you use this technique with oil paint? I was told that oil with acrylic will crack eventually. Maybe this is different in that the acrylic is caulk and not paint? I'd love to know! Thanks, Janet
Thank you Cali! Janet, thanks for your comments. If I use too much caulk it will crack. I have to keep the ratio to about 1/2 paint, 1/2 caulk. Too much caulk and it cracks.
This is probably a little weird, but when I saw this video with the caulk, I got inspired to pull out my sons play-dough for some reason! I just put the dough on some paper and started moving the play-dough around on it with his little plastic play-dough knife! And you know what?! It turned out pretty cool! Of course, it all cracked when it dried...but while it was still moist it looked so nice and smooth and the different colors blended so easily! I'm thinking you probably have never tried this(when you have all the art supplies, why would you?) but until I actually get all the oils/canvas/impasto gel....I am having fun making my little "palette knife play dough creations"! LOL
OiTrisha!
